Colman McCarthy of Georgetown University Law Center presents the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation’s 7th Annual Frank K. Kelly Lecture calling for a significant change in our educational system. He argues that peace studies should be part of the core curriculum and include the philosophy of peace, the writings of great peace leaders, and non-violent conflict resolution.

Dear Friend, here’s something I’d like you to think about:
I was conducting a workshop for a group of engineers working on an assembly line.
One of those engineers summed up the need for good conflict management in the workplace by stating:
“I think that its vital (for me) to have a good grasp of conflict management techniques, because I literally spend more time in the factory than I do at home! In fact (pointing to a co-worker), I see more of that man than I do most members of my family. My co-workers are like my family, we’re thrown together in a small space for hours on end. We have no choice but to get along, or at least make it work.”
For me, this statement neatly underscores a prime reason why its important for us to be happy at work, namely that if we are unhappy at work, we’ll lead unhappier lives!
Carl Jung once stated that the two basic necessities for a happy and fulfilled life are Love, and Work.
Think about it. What would you choose if given the choice. Would it be a high paying job that would leave you feeling absolutely shattered and miserable at the end of the day? Or would it be the job that payed modestly, but you’d wake up feeling like you just couldn’t wait to get to work.
I don’t know what you’d choose, but for me, it would be the latter.
And you know what? If you are in a job that sounds more like the former than the latter, there is hope for you. Sound conflict management techniques can turn your job from a nightmare into a dream come true.
If you’re having a hard time dealing with your co-workers then I invite you to download my e-book Confronting Confrontations. Its my gift to you. It’ll give you a good guide to the first step in conflict management: namely conflict engagement (or confrontations for the layperson).
I think you’ll find it useful. After all, you receive a copy when you register with my website (which is Free by the way). What do you have to lose? (And don’t worry, I don’t be passing on your email addresses to spam companies.)
And if you’ve already downloaded my free e-book, I hope you’ve been reaping some of the benefits that good conflict management brings.
Maybe you’ve gotten all you can out of my e-book, if so that’s great. Maybe you’d like to move on to the next step? Maybe you’d like to learn even more fantastic techniques that will REALLY get you what YOU want at work.
Drop me an e-mail.
Fulfillment at work could be yours.
Your friend
